Strategic eyesight enables master leaders to recognize and use true competitive advantage: the leverage gained when an internal strength matches up with an external opportunity. Mohandas Gandhi demonstrated strategic eyesight when he made his Salt March in 1930. The preservative properties of salt made it essential to survival in India. The British maintained their dominance over India with laws that made it illegal to manufacture and sell salt without a license.
