24. Establish Mutually Agreed-On Expectations
Master leaders know that expectations drive perception and influence behavior. People get what they expect. People expect leaders to meet their expectations. Exceptional leaders understand follower expectations. They clarify their own expectations. And they find a way to create mutually agreed-on and shared expectations.
Conduct expectation clarification sessions. Meet with people one-on-one or in small groups. Assess your level of rapport with them to determine which approach would be best for different people.
