9.12. Summary

You cannot truly test the accessibility of a web application until you fully understand what accessibility is. This chapter took a different approach than others in this book, as this chapter spent a great deal of time talking about disabilities and specific accessibility elements and compliance. When it comes to accessibility testing, a combination of the automated tools discussed in this chapter along with manual testing will provide the best results.

Throughout this chapter, it has been stressed that you should involve users with disabilities in the testing of your application early in the development life cycle. Waiting until the final stages of a project can result in costly changes that could have been avoided.

After reading this chapter, you should understand why it's important to create accessible web applications and now have the tools to ensure you are creating them.
