Setting Up Custom Instruments Templates
We’ve been using Instruments’s trace document templates with the out-of-the-box UI Automation template. Now we’re going to create a custom template that’s ready to go so we can quickly get started automating the steps performed during the memory analysis.
To begin, load up the NearbyMe project from the 07-Performance/step01 directory. Make sure Xcode is set to build for the iPhone simulator, and choose Profile from the Product menu or press ⌘-I to build and launch the app in Instruments. Choose the UI Automation template like we’ve done before, but this time stop the Instruments trace once the new trace document opens.
