Chapter 12

Computer-Aided Method NWVPM for Evaluating the Performance of Tyres and Wheeled Vehicles

The Bekker tyre–soil model described in the preceding chapter provides a foundation for the analysis of the mechanics of interaction between a tyre and unprepared terrain. As noted previously, however, to provide a more realistic prediction, improvements in and modifications to the Bekkar model seem necessary.

The development of a computer-aided method for predicting the performance of tyres, as well as multi-axle wheeled vehicles, from the traction perspective, was initiated in the late 1980s.
