How it works...

Queries or requests coming to the Teradata system need to be classified before they can be allowed to execute on the system. The correct classification of queries helps to give the right priority to queries and helps them to provide their fair share of system resources. 

In our recipe, we have used profiles to classify the workload. There are other ways by which we can classify workload, they are:

  • WHO:
    • Username: Admin or high username can be used
    • Profile: Best way to classify
    • Account string: Second best way to classify
    • Client IP: Used to allow or block certain application servers or user machines
  • WHERE:
    • Table: Can abort/delay a query if a certain table is used
    • ViewCan abort/delay a query if a certain view is referred ...
