Recovering AMP down

Teradata is mainly made of nodes, access module processors known as AMPs, a Parsing Engine, and BYNET.

Every database machine is composed of hardware and software. Teradata is a powerful database that comes with high-end processing hardware and secure and fast analytical software.

Teradata hardware components are:

  • Teradata TPA or database nodes (Trusted Parallel Application)
  • BYNET nodes
  • Non-TPA nodes (used for applications, loading, connecting to the mainframe system, and so on); not common to every customer
  • Ethernet or other connectivity hardware

The Teradata software components are:

  • Virtual processors:
    • Access module processors
    • Parsing Engines
  • BYNET software
  • Database software
