Once you have set up the alert on the viewpoint, the defined action on alert will take place. You can also define the time over which this alert won't run twice. If you reduce this value to the minimum, you will get flooded with email alerts. This value should be based on the importance or urgency of the alert.
As we know, we can also schedule alerts based on the time of the day. These alerts are useful when we have separate windows defined, for example, if you want to have backup related alerts only on weekends and not on weekdays. As shown in the following screenshot, you can select appropriate timings as per requirement:
