Using Guides and Guide Points

Guides are another useful and effective tool in placing shapes with precision on a drawing page. Guides are dashed blue lines that turn green when they are selected. Guides are very beneficial when trying to align shapes that cover the entire drawing page. Attaching shapes to the guide enables you to not only align them accurately, but to also move the entire guide and the shapes with it at once.

To display and use guides, follow these steps:

  1. From the Horizontal or Vertical ruler, click and drag a guide into the drawing page. Notice the double-headed arrow when your mouse pointer is on the ruler.

  2. Drag a shape or multiple shapes onto the Guide until a red cube highlights indicating a successful connection.
