Isolating and Combining Shapes

Visio contains many shapes and graphics for drawing diagrams. When you can't find a shape to your liking, go ahead and create a custom shape. You can customize shapes through the process of fragmenting and combining.

You can create one shape from several others by Fragmenting them. For example, you can create a piece of a pie shape not found on any stencil. Figure 8.5 is an illustration of the result we are to achieve.

To create cut-out pie pieces, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Ellipse tool from the Standard toolbar.
