Assigning Passwords to Database Files

The easiest way to prevent other people from making changes to your database is to assign a password to it. Anyone who doesn't know the password will be prevented from opening the file. You must have the database open in Exclusive mode (see the preceding section) in order to set a password for it.

Setting a Password

Follow these steps to set a database password:

  1. Open the database that you want to protect.

  2. Select Tools, Security, Set Database Password. The Set Database Password dialog box appears.

  3. Enter the password you want to use in the Password text box, then enter it again in the Verify text box (see Figure 28.1). Click OK.
