Deleting Fields

If you realize that you don't need one or more fields that you created, now is the time to get rid of them. Otherwise, you'll needlessly enter information into each record that you will never use.

Don't Remove Important Fields!

Be very careful about deleting fields once you start entering records in your table. Once you delete a field, all the information stored for each record in that field is gone, too. The best time to experiment with deleting fields is now, before you enter any records.

You can erase fields in either Table Design or Datasheet view. To delete a field in Table Design view, follow these steps:

  1. Switch to Table Design view if you're not already there.

  2. Select a field.

  3. Do any of the following:

    • Press the Delete key ...
