Selecting Data Series Options

All chart types come with special options that you can select in order to emphasize certain values in your particular chart. For example, a column chart allows you to set the gap width (the width between categories) and the overlap (the amount that columns in different series overlap). In addition, if the column chart uses only a single series, by default all the columns are the same color. You can tell Excel to display them in different colors if you like. On a line chart, you can add drop lines (lines which help you view the differences between different series), change the markers, and add high-low lines. Each chart type has its own special options from which you can choose.
