About the Authors

Jonathan Davis, MA, MSc, IMC, is the founder and chairman of Independent Investor LLP, a specialist financial publishing venture, and a well known columnist and investment writer in the United Kingdom. For 10 years he was a full-time business and financial journalist in London, holding senior positions at The Times of London, The Economist, and The Independent. Since 2007 he has been a fortnightly columnist for the Financial Times, a regular contributor to The Spectator, and a founding shareholder in Agrifirma Brazil, a specialist farmland development business. He is a non-executive director of Jupiter Primadona Growth Trust, Genagro Services Ltd., and Victoria Private Management Office. A historian by training, he holds degrees from Cambridge University and the Sloan School of Management at MIT, where he wrote a thesis on the investment philosophy of Warren Buffett. He has also served as an editorial adviser to Oxford University’s Said Business School. This is his third full-length book on investment, after Money Makers, a study of successful professional investors (Orion 1998; new edition, Harriman House 2011), and Investing with Anthony Bolton, a detailed profile of the methods and career of the United Kingdom’s most successful fund manager of the modern era (Harriman House, 2004; paperback 2006).
