Managing scope involves verifying that the specified work has been successfully completed and only the work required becomes part of the project.

Scope creep occurs when the objectives of the training program change without proper approvals. Costs increase, development schedules become longer, resources become strained, and risk increases. Therefore, measures must be put into place to eliminate scope creep. Possible measures include:

• Use training forms to document project progress.

• Understand the stakeholder’s wants and needs by defining requirements clearly at the beginning of the project.

• Institute a formal change control process.
