Television has long been regarded by the viewing public as their primary source of information about the world (Gunter, 1987 Robinson and Levy, 1986 Towler, 2003). Not only has television been regarded as a valuable source of national and international news, but also for news about regions and local communities (Ofcom, 2007c).
