CHAPTER 20 GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

If you have got this far in the book you will know that television programs don’t get made without a degree of planning, organisation and paperwork. You won’t just get by with flair, imagination and creativity – important as they are. There are a few housekeeping habits that are worth developing to save yourself a lot of time, agony and frustration.

Tapes

Throughout a production you need to keep track of your tapes. You need to know where they are and what is on each of them. Every tape should be clearly labelled – at the time of shooting - with the following information:

•  Working title

•  Roll number

•  Date

•  Production company

In addition you may want to add details such as names of director and/or camera ...
