Chapter 13. Inferential Estimation Using Multiple Measurements

Objectives of the Chapter

The objective of this chapter is to discuss the design and implementation of estimators for inferential controllers using multiple secondary measurements. In this chapter we focus on model-based estimators. Topics covered include

  • Design of the steady-state estimator.

  • Selection of measurements.

  • Adding dynamic compensation.

  • Design of optimal estimators.

  • Nonlinear estimators.
