Objectives

The objective of this appendix is to provide an introduction to the polynomial discrete-finite impulse response (DFIR) model and the first-order plus dead time (FOPDT) model identification software that is on the book website.

Introduction

This appendix describes three programs included in the website for this book:

  1. POLYID is a MATLAB program to identify a DFIR model for an SISO process using the polynomial identification procedure outlined in Section 16.2.

  2. MODELBUILDER is a menu-driven program to develop an FOPDT model, given input/output data. It uses POLYID software.
