Technical Designers and technical design students rarely have the time for research that is not immediately related to a particular production. But over the years, students taking Technical Design at the Yale School of Drama have collaborated on a number of class projects designed to seek better solutions to perennial technical problems. The results are often quite good, but few of the projects have resulted in solutions as complete and as satisfylng as the deck system detailed here.
