Copyright Matters
Online content of any kind, much like its printed counterpart, is protected by default by copyright (in most countries, at least). The moment you write something, you own the copyright on it, even if you haven’t registered it with a copyright office in the country you reside in.
Unfortunately—or fortunately depending on your ideological stance on copyright law—many people online assume that copyright laws don’t really apply. Copying images and other content online is pretty common and there is a certain nonchalance about the practice. As a blogger, however, you need to pay attention to and respect other people’s copyrights as well as determine what to do if your own copyrighted work is plagiarized.
