Enable Tracking of Your Site’s Visitors

Being able to understand who your visitors are and what they do when they arrive on your site is a fundamental part of running a successful blog. To accomplish this goal, we’ll need to set up a traffic analytics suite. In Chapter 8, Understanding Traffic Statistics, we’ll discuss how to analyze the data you collect in greater detail, but for now let’s start by choosing and installing one traffic analysis tool.

A multitude of traffic analysis tools have been created over the years. Some work by analyzing your web server logs, while others avail themselves of a JavaScript tracker that you must embed in each page of your site. I strongly recommend that you opt for the latter.
