Trust and Concern

The third element of trust is demonstrating a concern for the team and its members. While this is a concept that is difficult to quantify, it is rather apparent in day-to-day interpersonal relations. On the other hand, it is very easy to understand when it is not evident as in, for example, when you know someone is putting their self-interest ahead of the team.

We talk about people who have hidden agendas or a secret “Plan B.” Yes, of course, we expect our teammates to have their own goals and needs, but we do not expect them to use their role and influence to further their own interests at the expense of the team.
