WHY REWARDS?

 

There is a difference between rewards and recognition plans, but we will get to that shortly. In the meantime, we will use the term “rewards” to cover the gamut of such programs.

Organizations engage in rewards programs for a variety of solid business reasons.

•  Some company plans are designed to focus on a few specific objectives or to celebrate outstanding performance by certain individuals and teams. For example, a business unit may hold a luncheon to acknowledge the accomplishment of a milestone by the organization.

•  Some plans are designed to improve organizational or team performance through the work of a specific work group or team. For example, all members of a team receive a check for $1,000 when a new system is deployed ...
