Team Empowerment Survey: Scoring

8 – 16: Dependent. Teams in this category have little freedom or authority to act in an independent manner. They look to management to tell them what to do and, often, how to do it.

17 – 31: Participative. Teams in this range are moving toward self-direction by using a variety of participative tools that involve members in goal-setting and decision-making. However, all plans and major decisions must be approved by management.

32 – 40: Empowered. If you are in this range, your team is highly self-directed which is reflected in your freedom to develop goals and plans and then carry out those plans with minimal control by management.
