Here are some tools you can use to ensure your verbal and nonverbal messages are aligned:

1.   Strengthen your message. You can power up your verbal message with the use of a non-verbal gesture that adds emphasis and ensures your audience is clear about your intent. For example, you nod your head up and down as you talk to your teammates about a positive customer experience.

2.   Confirming your message. It is helpful when discussing an important topic to both raise your voice and use a hand gesture at the appropriate time. For example, when you conclude with your three recommendations you can both increase your voice volume and raise one finger as you state your first recommendation, etc.
