Expand Storage Space with an External Hard Drive

Your MacBook includes a hard drive on which you store the operating system, applications, and your own files and folders. Over time, you might run low on available disk space, especially if you do large video or DVD projects. More importantly, you should back up your files using Time Machine, which requires a drive outside your Mac, such as an external hard drive. You can connect MacBook to an external hard drive to expand the working storage space available to you or to use Time Machine.
