External hard drives come in many different shapes and storage capacities, and with various different connection types and configurations. There are single drives, photo-specific options that enable you to copy, store, and view photos on memory cards, and various RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) options. iPods are also handy for transporting photos and are well integrated for slideshows.
