Connect an iPod
To synchronize some or all of your iTunes library with your iPod or iPod touch, you can connect the device to your Mac. With the latest versions of iOS, the iPod touch can synchronize with your Mac over Wi-Fi. However, if your iPod touch and your Mac are not on the same network, or you want to synchronize an older iPod, you need to make a physical connection between the device and your Mac.
To connect an iPod or iPod touch, you need the USB cable that came with the device’s package. You also need a free USB port on your Mac.
