Throw a File or Folder in the Trash

When you do not need a file any more, you can throw it in the Trash. The Trash is a special folder in which OS X keeps files and folders you intend to dispose of.

Like a real-world trash can, the Trash retains files until you actually empty it. So if you find you have thrown away a file that you need after all, you can recover the file from the Trash.
