Troubleshoot Disk Permission Errors
To control what your Mac mini’s users, applications, and different parts of the operating system itself can do, OS X uses a complex system of permissions. Sometimes the permissions on some files get set incorrectly, which prevents OS X or the applications from running as normal. When this happens, you can often fix the problem by repairing the disk permissions.
Troubleshoot Disk Permission Errors
Click Launchpad () on the Dock.
The Launchpad screen appears.
Click Utilities.
The Utilities folder opens.
