Chapter 15Paper and Print? Yes

In the second week of January 2015, the publisher Scholastic came out with a report that contained some surprises. The report was based on an annual survey of more than 2,500 parents and children around the United States. Several questions centered on e-books. In one, for example, the survey asked children and parents if they had ever read a book on an electronic device. In 2010, about 25 percent said yes. Two years later, that number jumped to 46 percent, and two years after that, the percentage climbed again to 61 percent. Among children ages six to eight, the increase was even sharper, jumping to 65 percent. Clearly, e-books are increasingly becoming part of the reading experience for kids and their parents. ...
