Create a Virtual Machine in Fusion

Even if you're not using a Boot Camp partition, Fusion lets you configure a new virtual machine and install Windows in it in a single procedure. To create a virtual machine and install Windows XP or Vista, follow these steps:

  1. Launch VMware Fusion (in /Applications).

  2. If you're running Fusion for the first time, you may see a Welcome screen. If so, click the Create New Virtual Machine button at the bottom; otherwise, choose File > New.

    The New Virtual Machine Assistant appears.

  3. Insert your Windows installer disc.

    The screen changes to show the version of Windows on the disc.

  4. Leave Install This Operating System selected, and click Continue.
