Configure Your Router

The final configuration step is to make sure the router that sits between the Mac(s) you'll access remotely and the Internet is properly set up. This may be an AirPort base station, a DSL or cable modem, or in some cases more than one device.

If you have an AirPort Extreme or AirPort Express, follow these steps:

  1. Open AirPort Utility (in /Applications/Utilities).

  2. Select your base station in the list on the left.

  3. Click Manual Setup.

  4. Choose Settings > Internet.

  5. In the NAT view, check Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol.

  6. If you made any changes, click Update and wait for your base station to restart.
