iTunes is not only designed to be used on its own, but also to be part of a network of computers in a home or office. iTunes Home Sharing allows you to open up your library to others so they can listen to your favorite tunes, and so you can listen to theirs too. You can share your library on a local network, and anyone—or anyone you allow, if you set a password—can load your library over the network and play your music, watch your videos, and listen to podcasts in your iTunes library.
