Clean Up Your Mac

Over time, most computers accumulate clutter, including outdated software, forgotten downloads, and obsolete files. Not only can this clutter make files harder to find, it can cause problems when you upgrade to Mountain Lion—incompatibilities may show up, or you may run out of disk space, for example.

In this chapter, I suggest that you install some software updates and delete files you don’t need anymore. I also show you how to check both your RAM and your disk for errors that could cause problems when installing or running Mountain Lion.
