Use Vine for VNC

If the VNC software that Apple includes with Mac OS X doesn't give you the security, configuration options, or cross-platform compatibility you need, you have an alternative for both client and server access: Vine Viewer and Vine Server from TestPlant.

Vine Viewer

The Vine Viewer VNC program—recently updated for Snow Leopard—is a full-featured VNC client, unlike the stripped-down Screen Sharing program that Apple provides, and it includes an option for SSH (Secure Shell) connections that I highly recommend (http://www.testplant.com/products/vine_viewer, $35).
