Live Dangerously: Hack Time Machine

Please pay attention to this word of friendly advice: don't mess with your backups. They are there to protect you, but they'll only do that if the data starts and stays perfectly intact. If something goes wrong with your backups—perhaps something subtle that you don't notice for weeks or months—you could be out of luck when it comes time to restore your data.
