Joe's Software Recommendations

As you're considering which backup software to use, keep in mind that the best program for archiving may not be the best program for duplicates or online backups. In the past, I suggested picking just one program for all your backup needs, but given today's range of options, you can in many cases save money and get a better end result by using more than one backup program.

With that in mind, here are my specific software recommendations.

If you want the process of making bootable duplicates to be as pain-free as possible, you can't go wrong with either SuperDuper (my personal preference for local backups) or Carbon Copy Cloner (my choice for creating duplicates on a network volume).
