Appendix B. Connect without AirPort Adapters

If you own a computer with an AirPort or AirPort Extreme slot but without a PC Card (CardBus) or PCI card slot, I recommend using an AirPort card from Apple. But if you have a slot free, you might consider a third-party alternative that could cost only $20 to $50.

Older Power Macs That Predate AirPort

These computers can use Ethernet adapters, Wi-Fi PCI cards, and USB adapters, but each option comes with issues:
