General Troubleshooting

Here are my suggestions for handling a few common problems that could affect your ability to connect to a remote computer.

Firewall blocks access

Firewalls are the enemy of many network services: they're trying to prevent precisely what you want to achieve. If you have a firewall installed on your computer (including Leopard's built-in firewall), or one built into your router or gateway, you may need to change its settings to ensure that you aren't accidentally blocking remote access.
