By default, the iPhone doesn’t enable any security that would prevent someone else from using it, should it be lost or stolen. What can you do to protect yourself? The iPhone provides two options:

  • Passcode Lock: After you enable this feature, a passcode must be entered before you can successfully unlock the iPhone (such as when waking it up). This prevents anyone who doesn’t know the passcode from using the iPhone at all. If you forget your passcode, you must restore your iPhone. This removes the passcode so you can access your iPhone again.
