Chapter 16. Choosing hardware and virtualization

To obtain the best performance from a tabular model, you must make the proper choices in terms of hardware and, if used, virtualization. These concepts were introduced in Chapter 1, “Introducing the tabular model,” but they are important enough to deserve a separate discussion.

In this chapter, you will learn the trade-offs to consider when using a virtualization environment and why controlling certain hardware characteristics, such as the CPU clock, memory speed, and NUMA architecture, can make the difference between a successful Tabular solution and a poorly implemented one.
