Post-Connection

Gather all the information about your new line so that if problems occur, you will have all the information you need in one place. Here’s a list of what I keep handy about circuits for which I am responsible:

  • Line framing

  • Line code

  • Line speed (channel speed and number of DS0s)

  • Line build out

  • Transmit clocking and DTE clocking settings, along with the make and model of the DTE

  • Link layer information, such as frame relay DLCI or ATM virtual path and virtual circuit IDs

  • IP addressing and routing information from the ISP

  • Telco circuit ID number and contact information

  • ISP account ID number and contact information
