SYSTEM FORENSICS IS AN EVOLVING FIELD. Forensic specialists must be prepared for changing technology. They must also be prepared for changing legal requirements regarding protecting data. Further, they should know how to conduct investigations using formal, defensible processes. Demonstrating competency in the evolving forensic environment requires forensic specialists to adopt a structured career approach and obtain credentials and certifications. In future hiring decisions, those who have credentials will be more favorably viewed than those who are equally competent but self-taught.
