Deploying to and Maintaining VHDs
This feature enables ConfigMgr to deploy Windows to a new VHD and update an existing instance of Windows within a VHD it has previously created. In addition, it directly uploads a VHD to an instance of Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) for use within your enterprise. To take advantage of this new feature set, you must install the ConfigMgr administrative console on a 64-bit Windows 8 or 8.1 system, or on Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012, or 2012 R2 where Hyper-V is fully enabled and operational. To upload the VHDs to VMM, you must also install the VMM console on a system where the ConfigMgr console is loaded. This does not necessarily need to be the same system where you are creating and maintaining the VHDs.
