Power Scheme

For longer running task sequences, the default Windows power scheme often causes the monitor to enter power saving mode. This is not a problem unless someone decides to take action on the system thinking that it is not powered-on because the monitor is blank. This includes turning the power off or closing the lid on a laptop to take it home. Both would disrupt the task sequence, causing it to fail.

To prevent this, add a Run Command Line task to the task sequence immediately following the Setup Windows and ConfigMgr task with the following (or similar, depending upon your needs) command line:

powercfg.exe -change monitor-timeout-ac 0

To restore the default power scheme, add another Run Command Line task ...
