Linux/UNIX Log Files

The Linux/UNIX agent logs everything into one log file called SCXCM.log. This file is located at /var/opt/microsoft/scxcm.log.

This is the only log file for all client activity. Multiple components write to this log, which makes it more difficult to look for the issue that you are experiencing. This log can be viewed on the Linux/UNIX client by using the gedit program. It shows as plain text, and looks similar as to when using notepad on a Windows-based client. There is no cmtrace program for the Linux/UNIX agent. Gedit works for a quick look, but to go in-depth in the log you would want to copy the log file to a Windows-based machine and use cmtrace to view it. The format of the log makes it viewable with cmtrace.
