Settings Management

Settings Management is available on the OS X platform only. This component operates in the same way as the Windows-based component. You start out with a configuration item (CI) that defines the setting that you want to monitor, what the setting should be, and how to remediate it when it drifts out of compliance. Once you have the CI defined, you must attach it to a configuration baseline (CB). That CB is then deployed to a collection of machines; in this case, that collection would contain your OS X clients. On the client side, the agent downloads the policy from the MP, reads the CI and verifies it is in compliance, and reports back the status to the MP.
