Definition of an Application

An application is a container used to deliver software. It contains basic information for the application, such as name, version, application owner, and localization information that describes how the application is displayed in the Application Catalog. It also provides information regarding the distribution settings that are used and to which distribution points (DPs) and DP groups the content for the application is distributed. It includes any references/dependencies for other applications, as well as whether the application replaces an existing application or is part of a virtual environment.
